What is Vinyl a Cutter?

This is Mike from Equalize Designz, today we are going to discuss what is a vinyl cutter? So to begin with vinyl cutting is basically using a machine called a vinyl cutter that cuts vinyl film into different shapes and letters. Besides vinyl film the vinyl cutter can cut different kinds of paper. Most people use the vinyl cutter for cutting different material for scrapbooking and maybe designing their walls or something they want to put a design on and there are many other reasons as well.

At Equalize Designz we use the vinyl cutter to cut heat transfer vinyl film then we to heat press it on to shirts or other cloth material. There are many different types of vinyl cutters on the market, at equalize Designz we use the Silhouette Cameo. Just like printers most vinyl cutters come packaged with software that allows you to adjust and prepare your created designs to be cut using the vinyl cutter once the machine is hooked up to your computer via USB.

There many kinds of vinyl film like regular or flock vinyl, they are easy to find usually online or your local craft stores. When you want cut you design if its more then one color you will need to buy other vinyl film to cut your design. When you’re about to cut you need to make sure you that you have the right size if not you might have to cut it down, check your preferences on the machine to see what size is the your vinyl cutter goes up to, the Silhouette Cameo goes up to12 inches some wide formats can go up to 31 inches.
